Stanford Surgery's annual celebration of science, Holman Day, took place on Friday, June 5, 2026 with Dr. Ginny Bumgardner as the keynote lecturer.

The Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery welcomed Dr. Andres Schanzer as the 2026 Al-Khatib Visiting Professor, continuing a tradition that honors the legacy of Dr. Weesam Al-Khatib and his lasting contributions to Stanford Vascular Surgery.

Dr. Nazish Sayed, Associate Professor in the Division of Vascular Surgery at Stanford University, has received a Department of Defense (DOD) Toxic Exposures Research Program (TERP) Translational Research Partnership Award for a project focused on the cardiovascular effects of burn pit exposure in Veterans.

Drs. Keyuree Satam and Camille Hironaka have been named Li Ka Shing Scholars for the 2026 academic year.

Dr. Nazish Sayed, MD, PhD, Associate Professor in the Division of Vascular Surgery and a faculty member of the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute, has been awarded the National Institutes of Health–National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NIH-NHLBI) Emerging Investigator Award (R35).

Dr. Chikage Noishiki, an Instructor in the Sayed Lab within the Division of Vascular Surgery, Department of Surgery, has been awarded an American Heart Association (AHA) Career Development Award.

The department welcomed its eight general surgery, four plastics surgery, and two vascular surgery interns as part of Match 2026.
